Full Time Teacher

Summary of Position

Join the innovative team at Homestead Learning, a homeschool microschool established in 2024, where education is reimagined to prioritize autonomy, resilience, and a love for learning. At Homestead, each day is crafted to resemble the warmth and flexibility of a homeschool environment rather than a traditional public school setting.

As a member of our dedicated team, you will have the opportunity to engage with students in a dynamic learning community that values self-directed education, practical life skills, and collaborative experiences. A typical day at Homestead begins with a morning gathering for reading or Socratic discussions, followed by individual or group work on core academics. We believe in fostering independence and trust, providing children with the space to explore their interests and passions.

We value a long, flexible lunch break where children can cook their meals, play outside, or take a rest when needed. In the afternoons, our focus shifts to project-based learning and skill building, allowing students to delve into hands-on activities and collaborative projects that foster creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Each day concludes with a period dedicated to tidying up before heading home, instilling a sense of responsibility and community in our students.

Our approach to education emphasizes autonomy, resilience, and critical thinking, empowering students to pursue their curiosities with passion and enthusiasm. We believe that a well-educated person is one who embraces learning as a lifelong journey, and we are committed to cultivating this mindset in every student at Homestead Learning.

Join us in creating an environment where children thrive, grow, and discover the joy of learning every day.

Before applying, please note that this is not a typical teaching role! You must be comfortable with group learning of mixed aged students. Our goal is NOT to teach by grade standards but to involve all the children in theme based learning adapted for their abilities.

Our curriculum is already designed for this!  Our ideal guide is one who can follow our curriculum, adapt it to challenge the students *where they are at individually,* and trust them to explore the material with your oversight.
